Terms and Conditions

Information for trade and private clients.

Working with your jewellery and gemstones.

All jewellery and gemstone setting is approached with reasonable care and professional skill. Gemstones can contain natural internal inclusions, cracks or pre-existing weaknesses which may not be visible before work begins. In rare cases a stone can chip or fracture during setting.

Customers supplying their own gemstones should discuss any known damage, treatments or sensitivities before work. We will explain any identified additional risk wherever reasonably possible. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for a failure to use reasonable care and skill or any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Stones are checked for security on completion of setting. Wear, accidental knocks, subsequent alteration and damage to settings can affect security over time and are not covered by an indefinite guarantee.

Gemsetter carries business insurance subject to policy limits. Customers are responsible for arranging appropriate insurance for their jewellery and gemstones, including transit and cover beyond our insurance limits. Ask for details before sending valuable items.

Each bespoke or remodelling commission is assessed and quoted individually before work begins. Where customers supply their own gold to be melted and remade into a new casting, a processing loss allowance of up to 10% may apply, as agreed in the quotation before work begins. This allowance does not apply to existing castings supplied for stone setting.
